Since the emergence of CBD onto the high street back in 2018, its popularity is forever increasing. With the number of users having doubled in the first year alone from 125,000 to 250,000. Back in 2019, surveys conducted by Dynata and YouGov, for the Centre for Medical Cannabis, showed that approximately 4-6 million people in the UK have tried CBD, with current estimates indicating that there are 1.3 million people in the UK who regularly use CBD.
First being sold in Holland & Barrett, CBD oil has now become more mainstream and is being sold in pharmacies, health food stores and supermarkets, although the vast majority of consumers are purchasing CBD oil online. CBD food and drink products have exploded in popularity and with the growth of the market, CBD oil is now emerging into the beauty industry, with new products such as CBD shampoo being created.
What is CBD?
CBD (Cannabidiol) is one of the countless naturally occurring chemical compounds found in the cannabis plant. Many people still associate cannabis with ‘getting high’, and for this reason, many people are hesitant when it comes to having anything to do with CBD, worrying about the effects it will have on them.
The ‘high’ element of Cannabis is THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol). THC is the major active ingredient in the marijuana plant. CBD is mainly from the hemp plant, another species of the cannabis plant and contains no THC, therefore meaning CBD oil has no psychoactive substances in the product.
What products are currently on the market?
CBD was initially used in CBD oil drops and became one of the more mainstream products in the CBD market. Its effects can last up to 8 hours when drops are placed under the tongue. CBD Gummies are a popular product as they offer more varieties of flavour. After this, such products as Gummies, Hemp Tea, Topical Creams, Capsules and E-Vapes were introduced. Some stores are now offering it in sexual lubricants! Its applications are wide and varied.
And now we have CBD Shampoo…
Our CBD Shampoo contains 200mg of ultra-pure CBD isolate and is also enriched with Omega 3, 6 & 9 and Vitamin F. All of which leave your hair nourished, conditioned and strengthened. The Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids, moisturise, protect and enhance your natural shine by sealing the ends of the hair, allowing maximum moisture retention. The amazing moisture retention, also reduces inflammation and itchiness in the scalp, giving you dandruff free hair.
Our shampoo is sulfate-free, leaving no traces of harsh chemicals on your hair. Molecules in shampoos that contain sulfates, can’t differentiate between excess oil and natural sebum, so can accidentally strip too much oil from your hair. Resulting in dry, brittle hair that is susceptible to damage.
Our sulfate-free formula can;
- Reduce scalp irritation
- Reduce frizz
- Reduce irritation of the skin around the hair
- Leave your hair softer and more conditioned
- Leave naturally curly hair more intact
Skin absorption is the quickest way for CBD oil to enter the body, so massaging the CBD shampoo into your hair and scalp will allow maximum absorption.
We have made sure to clearly label our CBD shampoo with the amount of CBD contained within it. Other companies out there have fallen foul of the regulations, claiming they contain CBD oil, only for it later to be discovered their products only contain hemp seed oil. Certainly not the same as CBD. Or others who have stated they contain CBD, to then find out their claims were overhyped and only contained negligible amounts.
Is CBD shampoo legal?
For CBD oil to be legal in the UK, it must contain under 0.2% THC., so the answer quite simply is yes.
