There are four main ways to take CBD oil. As CBD oil is becoming more and more in demand for various uses, the availability of choices is becoming apparent. This gives the user more options to find which product works best for them.
The four methods are as follows:
- Inhalation
- Topical
- Sub-lingual
- Ingestion
You may find that what is good for you whilst at work may not be suitable for when you are doing sports or exercise. We recommend you trial each option to decide what you prefer.
Inhalation
CBD oil can be inhaled by using a vaporiser. The vaporiser heats the CBD oil to release its active composites, therefore averting the harmful by-products that are caused by combustion.
During vaporisation, the CBD oil enters your lungs and imparts directly to your bloodstream. It does not have to traverse through your liver or digestive system. This means it gets into your circulatory system faster, and less CBD is lost compared to the ingestion method.
This is certainly not suitable for children and more aimed towards adults. The CBD oil is generally an e-liquid which may contain vegetable glycerine (VG). Vaporisers have a wide range from the small pocket vape pens to larger size units.
Topical
CBD oil topical products are designed to be applied directly to the skin. They are applied and absorbed in a small area and are not absorbed into the bloodstream.
Most of these topical CBD oil products are creams, but you can also get daily bath and shower products. Some of these include body washes, shampoos, conditioners and moisturising lotions for everyday care.
Sub-lingual
Sub-lingual means the CBD is held under the tongue for up to a minute and a half. Therefore, enabling the mucous membrane in the mouth to absorb the CBD oils active ingredients.
The CBD oil will also by-pass the intestines and liver and be delivered directly to the bloodstream. This means the compounds reach your bloodstream and the endocannabinoid system. If you are looking for a fast way to get any effects, this may be the ideal administration for you.
CBD oil that is pure, tinctures and concentrated are created for under the tongue application. They can be popped under the tongue and held easily to give the CBD oil time to be absorbed by the capillaries in the mouth before you can safely swallow them.
Ingestion
I think perhaps this is the most favoured method of taking CBD oil. It will pass on through your digestive system and be metabolised by your liver. This is where the active compounds make their way to your bloodstream. Most tablets and vitamins are taken daily by millions of people in this way.
The most available ingested CBD oil products include beverages, capsules and edibles. Beverages can have CBD oil added and can be any drink, including tea and coffee. Capsules would be the easiest as they can be taken and washed down with a glass of water. You could include CBD oil into food, making them edible in many different ways.
